Avengers Hot Wheels and Shelf Displays Update

This comes a couple weeks later than intended, but that’s just how things are!

At a Walmart, I’d come across another bin of Hot Wheels cars. Much as with several previous Marvel waves, I was able to find the entire numbered series, and given the small price point each (all 8 for less than the price of two Marvel comics), I went ahead and bought them.

These were numbered 1 through 7 of 7…and then the Infinity Gauntlet car was unnumbered. Of course, had I only bought one, I definitely would have gone with that. Only two, and I’d’ve gone with that and #4; three I’d have gone with that and #s 4 & 5.

As usual, these are kinda neat, spotlighting the Avengers through history. As I was primarily into them for Heroes Reborn and Heroes Return, #s 4 & 5 are my favorite here because of the cards!

And with this as a bit of a filler post–new content weekdays–here’s an update to the toy shelves/displays!

On top is the bulk of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers collection.

Then the TMNT (’80s/’90s) villains; then TMNT (’80s/’90s) "good guys" (non-turtles).

On the other side, the Power Rangers extend on over at the top, joining an AT-AT and Fin Fang Foom.

Below that’s the Superman shelf.

And finally, the newest shelf, with the Doomsdays and then mostly ’90s-ish miscellaneous figures.

I’d intended to do a similar display for my Marvel Legends, but they won’t fit, doing the three-tier, so I’m going to have to figure out something else!

Guess I’m Getting Into HotWheels

Last year, I rummaged through a bin of Captain America: Civil War cars from HotWheels.

Earlier this year, I did the same for a run of Guardians of the Galaxy.

And now, once more, for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

As with the others…it’s price point, and the entire "wave" being present to buy in one go, not having to visit multiple stores and put much effort into tracking them all down.

I’m a sucker for this sorta thing.

And of course, a lot of it’s the packaging. I don’t know the cars. They look cool enough, but I’m just not a car guy.

But the impulse-buyer/collector in me loves this sorta thing.

And someday, these’ll make for some cool display, icebreaker, or junk to add to someone else’s collection. Who knows?

I can say that this wave’s a little disappointing, having only the two cars for the movie look, and the other three being villains and this Spider-Man logo…rather than, say, the couple movie cars and then six more for the Sinister Six or such. And no display of the numerous Spider-Man logos from the 50+ years of the character…

Impulse Buying and Price: Guardians 2 Hot Wheels

It seems almost amazing at times how much impact price has on impulse purchases. And what a difference that 97 cents makes compared to, say, $3.99 per unit.

Case in point: a wave of Hot Wheels, with various vehicles done up in honor of the main characters in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 and related stuff.

For a little under the price of a mere 2 regular Marvel comics (or 1 1/2 #1 issues), I snagged all 8 of these. Walmart had a big bin of them, and I poked through, initially curious after the Drax one caught my eye…then decided that ok, if they had all 8 shown on the back of the cards, I’d go ahead and get them…but if they only had 7, or 6, or such, I’d put ’em back and buy none.

But they had all 8, so…I bought ’em.

These’ll go with the Captain America: Civil War wave I picked up the same way last year.

I’m not much of a car guy, but occasional things like this, with snazzy packaging that really grabs the attention (moreso than the vehicles themselves), are fun…and really don’t take up that much space, thankfully. And since I’m not buying up the action figures and other stuff that cost a lot more…I allow myself the indulgence.

All the more with zero interest in other movie toys for stuff like Spider-Man or Wonder Woman, and not even seeing any product for Alien: Covenant and such.

C’est la vie!
